About Our Service
As an independent eyewear studio, Stewart Iddon isn't tied to corporate targets, branded products, or rushed appointment slots. You get genuinely personal advice, expert fitting from someone with decades of experience, and handpicked frame collections you won't find on every high street. We take time to understand your vision, lifestyle, and preferences — not just your prescription numbers.
Walk-ins are welcome, though we recommend booking ahead to guarantee you get dedicated time with Stewart. You can book online via our Book Appointment page, or call us on 01752 846 676.
Standard single vision lenses are often ready the same day. More complex prescriptions, varifocals, or specialist lens options may take longer — we'll always give you a clear timeline when you order. Uploading your prescription in advance helps us prepare everything before your visit.
Yes — we offer a "lenses only" service. Bring your existing frames and we'll fit the right lenses for your prescription. Simply choose "Lenses Only" when uploading your prescription or let us know when you book.
Prescriptions
Visit our Upload Prescription page. Drag and drop your file or browse to select it. We accept JPG, PNG, and PDF files up to 10MB. Then fill in your name, email, and what you need — and we'll be in touch the same day.
No — prescriptions are only valid for 2 years from the date of issue. Once expired, we cannot dispense against them and you'll need a fresh eye test before ordering new lenses. Get in touch if you're unsure.
Absolutely. Place your paper prescription on a flat surface with good lighting and take a clear photo with your phone. Make sure all numbers are legible before uploading. JPG and PNG photos from your phone camera work perfectly.
Your prescription contains values for SPH (sphere — your main lens power), CYL (cylinder — astigmatism correction), AXIS (orientation of astigmatism), ADD (reading addition for varifocals), and PD (pupillary distance). A full explanation is available on our Upload page.
Yes. You're entitled by law to take your prescription wherever you choose. We're happy to use prescriptions issued by any registered optician in the UK, provided they are current and clearly legible.
Lenses
As an independent eyewear studio, we're not tied to a single manufacturer — which means access to a wider portfolio of lenses than you'd typically find on the high street. We offer a range of single vision, bifocal, and varifocal lenses including premium designs for active lifestyles and photochromic Transitions options. Full details on our Lenses page.
Lens index (1.5, 1.6, 1.67, 1.74) refers to how thin the lens can be made. Stronger prescriptions generally benefit from a higher index to keep the lens slim and lightweight. We'll advise you on the best index for your prescription and chosen frame during your consultation.
For many wearers, absolutely. Transitions lenses automatically darken in sunlight and return to clear indoors — meaning you only need one pair of glasses. They're especially useful for people who spend time outdoors, drive regularly, or simply don't want to carry separate sunglasses. Ask Stewart whether they're right for your lifestyle.
An anti-reflective (AR) coating reduces glare and reflections on your lenses — useful for driving at night, using screens, or simply giving your lenses a cleaner, more transparent appearance. AR coating is included as standard on all our clear and Transitions lenses.
Standard single vision lenses are often ready the same day. Varifocals, bifocals, specialist coatings, or high-index lenses typically take a few days. We'll always give you a clear timeframe when you place your order.
Frames
Yes — please do. In-person frame selection with Stewart's guidance is the best way to find frames that truly suit your face shape, colouring, and lifestyle. Book an appointment or come and visit us in Saltash, Cornwall.
We carry five Eyespace Eyewear collections: Range Rover, Defender, Cocoa Mint, Zips, and Arhlo. Each collection is chosen for quality, sustainability, and a distinct character. View all ranges on our Frames page.
Payments & Returns
We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, and bank transfer. Please contact us if you have specific payment requirements.
As prescription eyewear is made specifically to your requirements, we're unable to accept returns unless there's a manufacturing defect or the lenses don't match your prescription. We'll always work with you to make things right — please contact us directly if there's an issue with your order.
